DR. ALABA OLUYOMI, have succeeded in corporations, academics, and various levels of government, including the U.S. military and the U.S. Federal law enforcement. This variety of experience gives
him a very broad perspective regarding the changing patterns of societal transformation, technological innovation and the related IT security imperatives. Apart from working currently, on various IT
security projects, he is also currently, an adjunct professor in Information Systems and Technology at the Washington, D.C.-based Strayer University. He teaches graduate-level courses in computer
science and information security. His experience in the area of information systems began in 1991, when he worked for over a year in the information systems department of a large engineering services
company, to satisfy the internship requirement as an undergraduate student. Around the time, he also worked as a contractor for an oil company--Shell. After earning his bachelor's degree in
computer science (1993/94 session) from Ogun State University (now, Olabisi Onabanjo University--OOU) Nigeria, he traveled abroad, to the United States. Professor Oluyomi served on
active duty in the United States Navy between 1996 and 2001. He completed basic military and marksmanship training at the U.S. Naval Training Center, Great Lakes, Illinois in 1996. He also attended
the U.S. Naval Center, Supply & Logistics School, Meridian, Mississippi, where he graduated at the very top of his class (GPA 97.54 of 100).
During his active military service, he was assigned to numerous naval commands, including: (a) U.S. Naval Amphibious Base, White Beach, Okinawa, Japan; (b) U.S. Naval Supply Unit-Marine Corps Air
Station, Futenma, Japan; (c) USNS San Jose, T-AFS 7, Guam (Marianas-Southeast Asia); (d) U.S. Naval Station, San Diego, CA; and (e) U.S. Naval Amphibious Base, Coronado, CA. He also served onboard
the USS Princeton--CG59, a Ticonderoga-class guided missile cruiser. He was awarded the U.S. Navy Good Conduct Medal in 1999. He received honorable discharge from active military service in
2001.
He passed the 2002 Adjudication Officer - Federal civil service examination with a score of 100, ranking at the very top of the nationwide register. Professor Oluyomi became a U.S.
Federal employee in 2002, when he took appointment as an officer with an agency under the U.S. Department of Justice. He is a founding member of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security
(March 1, 2003). At the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), where he worked as Customs and Border Protection Officer, Immigration Officer, and District Adjudication Officer; he was
involved in the use of cross-functional enterprise architecture and compliance enforcement technologies. He completed numerous job-related certifications at DHS, including: record and
project management, risk management, and firearms use and handling. He worked at various levels and on various projects within DHS until 2011, when he took the early retirement option after 13+ years
of combined U.S. Federal service.
He earned his master's degree in computer systems management from the University of Maryland--University College in 2001. He started his doctoral studies in 2006; and in 2010, he earned his PhD
degree in applied management--information systems specialization, from Walden University--Minneapolis, Minnesota. His research interests include: (a) Adoption of Technology, and (b) Enterprise IT
Risk Transformation. Professor Oluyomi is a 2002 graduate of the U.S. Federal Law Enforcement Training Center, Police Training Class, INSI No. 302 - Glynco, GA. He graduated in the top ranks
of his class (GPA 94.56 of 100).
Professor Oluyomi holds the topmost IT certification in the field of computer and network security - Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) credential, with professional
membership in (ISC)2*. He has traveled far and wide, to numerous countries around the world.
